The Vision:

HealthFirst Family Care Center, Inc. is a welcoming, culturally sensitive, Center of Excellence as we serve the 21st Century health care needs of a continually changing diverse population in Greater Fall River. HealthFirst has grown and changed itself, from a small, neighborhood Community Development Service Center to a Federally qualified and supported program, with access to national expertise and training. The Center employs top-quality Board-Certified physicians from across the country through Federal loan repayment programs and other incentives. We strive to meet the unique health care needs of our community, based on regular needs assessments and vow to keep adjusting our services as your needs change.

The Mission:

The mission of HealthFirst Family Care Center, Inc. is to foster, through both direct services and collaboration, high quality, comprehensive primary health care which meets the needs of a diverse community regardless of age or income, and to provide access to health care to those who would not otherwise seek it.

Our History:

HealthFirst Family Care Center began as a Model Cities Program in 1971 in response to a need for accessible medical and dental care expressed by residents. The City of Fall River provided strong support for this program, and its name was subsequently changed to the Community Development Service Center.

The Center has served three generations of families. HealthFirst's service area has grown over the past 37 years to include the Portuguese, Hispanic, Cambodian, African American and Brazilian Portuguese populations. Accordingly, our staff members reflect the various cultures we serve, ensuring easy access for all patients, regardless of language, income or cultural barriers to care. HealthFirst has always been a resource for people struggling through difficult times, whether unemployed, a single parent or a recent immigrant. Federal assistance means you are assured of the highest quality care, and we will continue to greet anyone in need with open arms.
