We are bursting with pride for Jim Hodson, a dedicated family nurse practitioner here at Health First Family Care Center. Jim recently joined a medical and spiritual mission to Ethiopia, bringing life-changing care to remote communities halfway across the globe while enriching the lives of patients right here at home (Fall River Reporter).
In late April, Jim traveled to Ethiopia as part of a collaborative mission with It Is Written and Pastor John Bradshaw. He and his team journeyed from Addis Ababa to Hawassa, where Jim treated around 70 patients per day, offering crucial medical care. In partnership with RippleAffect, the team also delivered water filtration systems—bringing clean, safe drinking water to more than 7,500 people for the very first time. One touching moment Jim shared: an elder in the village, over 80 years old, had never had clean water before—and his expression said everything.
Jim describes these journeys as deeply humbling and enriching—not just personally, but professionally too. The lessons and experiences he gains abroad “humble me as a medical provider and give me more experience,” which in turn helps him better serve patients right here in Greater Fall River.
Looking ahead, Jim plans to return for another mission trip in 2026, continuing his dual commitment to global and community care.
Way to go Jim!
